Canadian Coinage

Canadian coinage was first introduced in 1858. Coins of the time were actually minted in England, and shipped to the Canadian provinces. The Royal Canadian Mint opened its first facility in 1908. Canadian coinage is issued in similar denominations to United States coinage, with the addition of a two-dollar coin known as a "toonie".
