U.S. Currency

Although currency has been around for centuries, it was not until 1862 when the first United States notes were issued. Nicknamed the "greenback" for it's distinctive green ink one the reverse, United States notes often feature a red treasury seal and were produced until 1971. In 1914, the Federal Reserve note was introduced, which features a green treasury seal and remains the only currency in production today. Other notes previously in circulation were silver and gold certificates, which featured blue and yellow treasury seals (respectively) and at one time were redeemable for their face value in silver or gold (respectively). Although currency is not an item we regularly stock, we will occassionally have some notes available for sale.
