Eisenhower

After production of the Peace Dollar ceased in 1935, no other circulating dollar coins were produced until the Eisenhower Dollar was introduced in 1971. The coin was relatively short-lived due to its unpopular size and weight and was discontinued in 1978 to make way for a smaller dollar coin--the SBA Dollar--in 1979.
